Brace yourself for a spellbinding evening that will have you dropping your preconceptions (and probably your jaw) when you encounter the totally unconventional spa experience that is The Spa of Unconscious Desires. In honour of the London Design Festival, Mondrian Hotel is partnering with design aficionados Bompas & Parr (Bompas & Sparr would have been better but you can’t have it all) to offer guests a selection of micro-treatments centred around bespoke design objects, immersing them in a new interpretation of beauty and relaxation. Not your typical Tuesday night affair, this one will really spa-rk your imagination.
Mondrian’s Agua Bathhouse & Spa will play host to this one-off evening of pushing the boundaries between “comfort, fear and disgust”. If by that they mean delicious cocktails and heavenly spa treatments, we think we can handle it. Trust us – no expenses will be spa-ed in ensuring you have an extraordinary sensory experience which both relaxes and intrigues you, so you can close your eyes and open your mind. According to the curators, as the title would suggest, the treatments and cocktails are inspired by our unconscious desires – and judging by the items on the cocktail list (e.g. Millennial Pink, a blend of hibiscus and mint gin, amaranth, pink citrus, pomegranate and soda), they’re not wrong.
After a guided group meditation session, treatments on offer include the Shadow Wrap, where guests will be cocooned in darkness alongside an immersive monologue and a muscle-melting scalp treatment for total relaxation, and the Shamanic Egg Healing, which basically involves breaking an egg to symbolically crush the negativity out of your life. Now that sounds like something we’d like to take spa-rt in.
The Spa of Unconscious Desires will take place on Tuesday 19th September from 6.30 – 9.30pm.
