‘Ere-we-go, ere-we-go’, Boxpark is coming to Wembley and the fans are going to go wild! The home of football will become the latest destination for the shipping container popup in late 2018 and it looks like it’s going to be another winning goal.
Boxpark started out in 2010 with their first popup mall in Shoreditch. The concept, melding retail fashion outlets and the arts as well as food and drink popups proved to be a success and in 2016 Boxpark Croydon was born. Boxpark Croydon is the biggest market of its kind in London with 35 startup and established traders from around the world and set in over 70 former shipping containers, the venue has capacity for over 2,000 happy shoppers and eaters and hosts a multitude of events including music nights, fitness sessions and community events for locals.
Boxpark Wembley will build on this as another step up for the Boxpark founders, with 29 units to be held by established and independent food operators, as well as a multitude of shopping options and a cultural hub for a programme of over 200 events throughout the year and a separate 2,000 capacity arena entertainment venue within the park. Also look out for BoxBar, a dedicated Boxpark bar stocked craft beers, fine wines and spirits, and intended for more intimate events.
This is all happening within the context of the greater Wembley Park investment which is seeing over £2bn invested in 3,000 new homes, shops, cinema, hotel and restaurants in this growing London hub. Given the numbers flocking to Wembley as a result, Boxpark Wembley looks like it may well be another canny move from the company.
We can’t wait for Boxpark 3.0 to kick-off and we’re already counting down the days until we can check out all the retailers and foodie destinations at Boxpark Wembley.
