Spanish film director Pedro Almodóvar is a legend in the industry, having directed classics like Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, Volver and Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down! And now he’s a legend at Aqua Nueva where he’s going to be immortalised in a special menu in his honour.
Coinciding with the BFI London Film Festival, Head Chef Yahir Gonzalez will be presenting his new menu to bring to life the most iconic scenes and characters from Almodóvar’s films. For instance, guests will be able to enjoy dishes like a palate cleansing gazpacho inspired by Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown or prawns, playfully tied up and inspired by Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!
The 3 course menu ,with a cocktail, also includes starters featuring a choice of salt baked golden beetroot, goat’s heese mousse, honeycomb and liquorice dressing or Catalan style ‘bomba’, Iberian meat croquettes with chorizo alioli.
Mains will include a choice of soft poached egg on Pisto Manchego red pepper jelly, or grilled cod served with wild fennel epsuma, Gordal olives and yuzu caviar or a delicious sounding short rib of beef, padron peppers, potatoes and chimichurri.
Before hitting dessert a tequila infused dark chocolate corn truffle sounds like the perfect ‘pre-dessert’ and finally a dessert of white chocolate bavarois, cherries and rose perfume rounds things off.
To mark this special menu Aqua Nueva will also be hosting a series of screenings of some of Almodóvar’s best films in their private dining room while guests dine from the menu, which would be a great opportunity to get aquiainted or reaquiainted with the Spanish director’s work in one of London’s leading Spanish restaurants.
The menu is available for lunch and dinner from Monday to Friday and dinner on Saturdays. Screenings are available on Monday 30th October and Monday 6th November
