Boozy eggnog in retro flasks, grilled cheese, animal see saws and tea-cup fairground booths are coming to a rooftop on Oxford Street as summer pop-up Sisu, remerges as Woody Bear.
The first winter pop-up at the venue, design team DENLDN have taken their inspiration from an abandoned urban fairground with animal see-saws, tea cup fairground ride booths, swings, log tables and hot gin punch and Negronis on tap.
To eat there’s a whole lot of cheese, winter bulking is about to commence. They’ve teamed up with croque-monsieur street food connoisseurs, Madame & Monsieur to serve up grilled cheese sandwiches including Le French, Le Swiss and Le Welsh as well as London Raclette on potatoes. If you want to share, because we all know sharing is caring and Christmas is a time for caring…. (slightly tedious), then order the Mont d’Or, baked in its spruce box and served with sourdough. There’ll also be petit plats including charcuterie boards and salads.
With heaters and blankets to curl up under it’s good for a winter date, flask of eggnog in one hand, grilled cheese in the other, looking up at the night sky, imagining that you can see the stars and not the orange tinge of light pollution. Or with space for up to 100 guests and a private hut for 20 guests, it’s ideal for Christmas parties.
After all a rooftop pop-up isn’t just for summer, it’s for life.
Woody Bear will open on the 1st November at 535 Oxford Street, W1C 2QW
