Brown’s Gets An Italian Makeover

Forget Michelangelo, Caravaggio, Titian, the real Italian Masters are coming, in the form of chef Heinz Beck and drinks maestro Salvatore Calabrese. And they’re heading straight toward Mayfair’s Brown’s Hotel restaurant and neighbouring Donovan Bar. So put your paint brushes and palate down, and get your palate ready.

Brown’s founder Sir Rocco Forte is celebrating his love of everything Italian this month and next with a special six-week take-over during which time Beck, who has been awarded 3 Michelin stars for his hugely successful La Pergola, will create Ora, the Italian themed pop-up in the restaurant. Dishes will include La Pergola signatures like his classic Tagliolini with black salsifies, chives and white truffle from Alba and John Dory with curry, red beetroots on a light pesto sauce.

Meanwhile, next door at Donovan’s, Calabrese be bringing over 40 years experience at the top of the trade by celebrating the art of the aperitivo with a specially curated Martini and Negroni menu. His creations on offer to guests will include the now famous Martini he created whilst in residency at The Dukes Hotel in the 1980s, not to mention an extensive Negroni menu including his own classic recipe featured alongside twists such as the Negroni Svegliato and a Vintage Negroni.

It’s not just the menu that’s getting an Italian makeover, regular Brown’s guests won’t fail to notice that the very fabric of dining room itself has also been taken over, this time by designer Ashley Hicks.

With such a breadth of experience and expertise on-hand this is a celebration well worth waving an Italian tricolor for. Grab the nearest Fiat 500 and get down to Brown’s.
