Meghan And Harry: The Honeymoon
Get the bunting out, let’s deck the house with union jacks and plan a street party. It’s official: Harry and Meghan are getting married!
Everyone knows that getting married is one of the most stressful events in anyone’s life, spare a thought for poor Meghan writing all those save-the-dates, setting up the decorations and planning which of the corgis will sit next to who. Okay, maybe she’ll have a little bit of help, but either way the royal couple are going to want to put their feet up afterwards so The Handbook has put together some honeymoon potentials (and yes, this was our already scheduled winter sun article hastily renamed!)…
If The Maldives is paradise, then this is the paradise within Paradise. Perhaps Meghan and Harry might want to jet to Kudadoo Private Island by Hurawalhi. It’s situated in the Lhaviyani Atoll, known for it’s abundant marine life, and is only accessible by seaplane. Set across 15 luxurious one and two bedroom villas boasting private terraces with panoramic views of the Indian Ocean. And when it comes to dinner the island’s underwater restaurant will set a seriously romantic tone.
It’s the first place that Harry’s grandmother, The Queen, stopped on her 1953 round-the-world Commonwealth tour, so perhaps a fitting stopover for the latest royal couple? The Hamilton Princess in the island’s capital, Hamilton, is a stunning 5* hotel by the water’s edge. The island itself is a lush outpost in the North Atlantic with a near-perfect climate and ideally located for the couple, lying roughly equidistant between the UK and US West Coast. While they’re there they need to drink copious amounts of the island’s rum swizzle, it’s life-changingly good. And it’s even called PRINCESS!
It’s the place Harry and Meghan really bonded, under canvas in a country that’s captured Harry’s heart, so it seems like the obvious place to head back to. And where better to be heading to recover after half a year of ultimate scrutiny than the middle of the bush there the only long lens cameras are the ones taking photos of all sorts of wonderful nature. Abu Camp is an ecologically-aware camp with six exclusive bus villas set on stilts. The villas are en-suite ad food is preparted by international chefs and accompanied by wines from their extensive wine cellar.
Mexico has been one of the most enduringly popular honeymoon destinations of recent decades. Perhaps Prince Harry and Dutchess of wherever Meghan would like to head to Playa del Carmen and enjoy a beach club vibe on the Yucatan Peninsula. Mediteranean luxury beach club specialists Purobeach are launching their latest club in Meixico later in the year, timed for the royal couple?
Harry’s grandmother became Queen in (and of) Kenya in 1952 and so nearly 70 years later it might be fitting to return to this stunning East African nation. Mahali Mzuri, which means ‘beautiful place’ in Swahili, is Sir Richard Branson’s Kenyan safari camp locaed in the Maasai Mara and right in the path of the annual great migration. The ‘tents’ are perched above the valley and offer unparallelled viewing and luxury of the wildlife we know Harry treasures.
Harry proposed while cooking a roast chicken, so the couple are obviously ‘foodie’ and the foodie destination of 2018 has to be Barbados, who have designated the entire year as the ‘Year of Culinary Experiences’. Expect a year of fabulous Bajan cooking all soaked up with copious amounts of rum. The most famous hotel on the island is Sandy Lane so it would be only natural for the couple to head to this most exclusive of resorts.
Morocco’s Atlas Mountains are simply spectacular, and there’s no better place to take them in from than Kasbah Tamadot. It’s yet another of Richard Branson’s properties (how many does he need?), bought during one of his ballooning expeditions and this castle on a hill combines amazing architecture, ultimate luxury. Harry and Meghan can be waited on hand-and-foot, or go trekking in the mountains, far from prying eyes.
Wherever the couple decide to spend their honeymoon it’s sure to be stunning, out-of-this-world and certainly not a caravan site near Blackpool. Meghan hopes…
