Don’t be a square, head to The Square! One of the gems of Bruton Street, The Square, is now under new ownership and after a major facelift will be reopening its doors on Friday 24th November in what promises to be a really exciting new chapter for this Mayfair hotspot.
The redesign comes hand-in-hand with another exciting change at the top, the appointment of Clement Leroy as Exectuvie Chef. The Square is in excellent hands as Leroy comes from Auberge de Jeu de Paume in Chantilly and before that he helped esdatablish Restaurant Guy Savoy in Paris, helping win them their third Michelin Star. Now, of course, all eyes will be on The Square as he brings not only his magic but some of his signature dishes, including hand-picked Devon crab with beetroot, iced coral, cardamom, or seared Orkney scallop marsala, hazelnut, green coffee bean and his John dory with celery, sea urchin, and lychee.
The wine list promises to be an intergral part of The Square’s new offering with head Sommelier Andrea Zarbetto curating a selection that celebrates French roots through an impressive list of Burgundies as well as an extensive selection of Old World wines.
The restaurant has a private dining room, bar seating and has been redesigned by Virgile + Partners, who have previoulsy transformed The Greenhouse and Morton’s Club, just down the street. Drawing inspiration from the art galleries that populate Mayfair the restaurant will bring an air of urban minimalism, not to mention their impressive art collection.
This all looks like it’ll combine into a formidable return to the Mayfair scene for The Square, we can’t wait to check it out.
