There’s Another Ivy, But This One’s Different
The Ivy genie is well and truly out of the bottle, those guys can’t go a month or two without launching another restaurant, and long may it continue because they’ve all been fabulous! This time around, though, it’s not another Ivy branded grill and brasserie but something a bit different. Welcome the Granary Square Brasserie.
During the day the brasserie will seek to ‘redefine all-day dining’ as a comfortable place to eat, drink and hang out; but by night the DJ will settle in and provide a beat to go along with an evening of cocktails and dining.
The menu brings everything that’s great about The Ivy along with it. The 250 cover restaurant, set in the heart of King’s Cross, will kick the day off with an Eggs Benedict breakfast along with a series of blended juices (look for the Power Up, combining wheatgrass, pineapple, papaya and orange), or grab a gluten free granola and stay healthy.
Make it to lunch and you can choose from a selection including steak sandwich served with a Burgundy sauce dip, shrimp and scallop burger, smoked salmon and crab, or an HLT (halloumi, lettuce and tomato).
Hopefully you’re still at Granary Square Brasserie, after all it’s designed so that people hang around, take meetings and work at the low brass tables, ensconced in the vintage leather bucket chairs.
Dinner is, of course, the main event, but make sure that you grab some cocktails first and take in the Grade II listed space with it’s cut-glass pendant lights shining down on the silk and velvet upholstered banquettes, kilim rugs, and textured wooden tables surrounding the central bar. Or eat outside overlooking Regent’s Canal (smokers relax, there’s heaters and blankets on standby!).
The a la carte menu includes a classic fish pie with salmon, cod and smoked haddock or slow roasted lamb shoulder with roast veg, not to mention the steaks and the beef that includes Cote de Boeuf. Even after all that it’s not over, because the pudding menu will be there to tempt diners with warm cappuccino cake and lemon meringue Alaska.
The great thing is that once all that’s over, you can nip home and be back for a full day a few hours later to do it all again!
Granary Square Brasserie opens on Wednesday 6th December
