December is the month to be festive and jolly, to get out and about with your friends, and there are venues and activities popping up all over London. With so much choice however it can be difficult to choose where to go or simply where to begin. So how about we offer a little helping hand. Here are the Handbook’s suggestions for the first six pop-ups to put on your merry hit list.
Bubble Bros, Ben Broad and Joe Bruce will be taking their beloved Prosecco van off-road, hosting a three-day Christmas pop up on Columbia Road. Guests will be given the chance to be their own barman – taking hold of the taps and enjoy free flowing, unlimited bubbles, learning to shake and stir from the experts. Pizza Pilgrims will also be on hand serving slices of Christmas pizza.
Opens Tuesday 12th to Saturday 16th December
Meet You At Meat Up
The popular Wandsworth BBQ restaurant has just launched its burger pop-up in Chelsea. A place where you can build your perfect burger of choice. Toppings as outrageous as mac and cheese or as classic as bacon are all on the menu. The patties are a deliciously secret blend of short-rib, brisket, sirloin, and ribeye just to name a few. The buns themselves can come in a variety of hues. For this festive season the Christmas burger features roast turkey, pigs in blankets, stuffing, sliced brussel sprouts, and brie all sandwiched between two haves of a red bun, pinned together with a candy cane. Feeling festive yet?
Open until Friday 22nd December
Five courses in a glorious Christmas feast. Kitchmas includes old-school favourites such as prawn cocktail, beef Wellington and the scrummy winter favourite: eggnog. Warm your tummies with mulled wine and watch the culinary surprises unfold throughout the evening. This wonderful little pop-up is the creation of the lovely Dinner Ladies, the London based catering company who are experts in creating meals that are always packed with flavour.

Three Girls Cook… Junk
Three Girls Cook is ready to feed! The three MasterChef 2017 finalists: Alison, Giovanna and Lorna, aka Three Girls Cook, have teamed up with the chaps at Brother Marcus to host an almighty feast of a supper club. An evening packed full of dishes inspired by the girls’ favourite cheat day treats. To start you off you’ll be welcomed with an Arbikie strawberry vodka milkshake, made with fresh strawberry coulis, a good splosh of vodka and a big swirl of whipped cream. For mains, experience the girls innovative take on the onion ring, Kentucky fried pheasant and the sticky but tender Bovril short ribs, with a spoonful of crusty truffle topped mac and cheese on the side. It may be hard, but no giving in, you’re not allowed to be full before you’ve tried the girl’s favourite: two warm, squidgy peanut butter cookies sandwiching malt ice cream and a toasted marshmallow on top
Thursday 7th to Saturday 9th December
Out Of The Wild
London’s favourite Scottish restaurant, Mac and Wild, has created the perfect Highland Hideaway this winter. In partnership with their favourite Scottish Gin, The Botanist, Mac and Wild launch their new winter ‘hunting lodges’. Offering Londoners a taste of the Highlands without stepping foot out of the Square Mile, these cosy Highland-inspired lodges, nestled away in the courtyard of Devonshire Square, are the perfect festive retreat this winter.

The leading hotpot specialists and founders of Shuang Shuang have literally popped up on Shaftsbury Avenue with a new venture. Bringing a new delicacy from the locals of Thailand along with influences from China and Korea. Mookrata combines the flavours of the traditional hotpot alongside Korean barbecue, allowing guests to cook together whilst creating their own combinations. The perfect warming dish to share amongst friends on these chilly winter days.
