Christmas Carols at The Ned

With its high ceiling which is perfect for towering, sparkling Christmas trees, twinkling lights and emerald green columns, The Ned was built for Christmas. And to mark their first festive season, they are hosting carols with Gareth Malone in the grand banking hall, which is sure to defrost even the coldest of London hearts.

Millie’s Lounge and Cecconi’s will both be serving set three-course dinner menus or you can just go for drinks and nibbles at The Nickel Bar. When we visited, we headed to Cecconi’s, there was an excellent mulled Negroni to start with and stand out dishes of burrata and crispy rings of calamari to dunk in lemon aioli. After ravioli stuffed with crab, we finished with a huge, decadent slice of tiramisu and a course of cheese – because is it even Christmas if you don’t finish every meal with at least one slice of Stilton?

Whilst you’re eating, Mr Choirmaster himself, Gareth Malone and his roving choir, walk around the restaurants singing traditional carols and acapella versions of your favourite Christmas songs. After dinner, the choir then take to The Nickel Stage to perform favourites such as Winter Wonderland and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. There is something rather magical about the grand hall being filled with those first few notes of Once in Royal David’s City.

Then it’s time for everyone to move around to the front of the stage for a Christmas sing-along. Belt out Twelve Days of Christmas as loud as you can, not giving two figs that it’s a Sunday night.

Christmas carols with Gareth Malone, is just part of The Ned Christmas’ offering they’re also serving an afternoon tea at Millie’s Lounge with mini mince pies, clementine cupcakes, gingerbread men and a coconut meringue snowman. You could go all out, start with tea, then move on to dinner and finish with carols. You’ll be Christmassed out by the end!

Christmas Carols with Gareth Malone at The Ned take place on the 10th and 17th of December 2017. All table reservations will be pre-paid upon booking to secure your table. Places are first come first served, so do book early, by calling 020 3828 2000.
