It’s Grimm Up North London

There’s something Grimm going on down at German Gymnasium in Kings Cross. Drawing inspiration from the classic collection of German folklore tales collected by the Brothers Grimm, the restaurant is bringing them to life, in partnership with airline Lufthansa and drinks partners Monkey 47 and Fever-Tree mixers.

Grimm’s Fairy Tales, include classics like Little Red Riding Hood, Snow White, Rumpelstiltskin, The Golden Goose, Rapunzel, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and Hansel and Gretel. Each of these stories will be told on German Gymnasium’s mystical World of Tales terrace, which will be adorned with winter foliage, twinkling lights, throws and decorative detailing that evokes nostalgic visions of eight of the the restaurant’s most beloved tales.

German Gymnasium will also be bringing the tales to life in the form of their own edition of Grimm’s Fairy Tales, this time in cocktail menu form! The menu will feature Little Red Riding Hood, served in a traditional German stine decorated with wolf and made from Monkey 47 Gin, Lillet Blanc, byrrh and Fever-Tree spiced orange ginger ale, to the Cinderella, served with hand carved ice and made with Lillet Rouge, rinomato bitter infused coffee beans and Fever-Tree smoky ginger ale. Alternatively, the Grimm’s Potion will provide a warming element with a hot gin and tonic made from Monkey 47 Gin, Fever-Tree aromatic tonic, apple juice and blueberries.

And it’s not just the drinks getting the Brothers Grimm treatment, Executive Chef Bjoern Wassmuth will be whipping up some classics like roasted fresh chestnuts and a selection of Germany’s favourite sausages, from currywurst and bratwurst hot dogs, as well as oyster and caviar dishes.

At this rate German Gymnasium really is the goose that lays the golden eggs.
