If it is the season to be jolly then it is absolutely the season where one should be imbibing copious amounts of drink, and festive ones at that. Any excuse to give our favourite liquors and cocktails a makeover and the bars are jumping at the chance.
Why, because a) they can somehow charge a lot more if they somehow manage to put a mini Christmas tree in our gin and tonics, and b) who wouldn’t want a mini Christmas tree in their gin and tonic? Not only can we feel the festive spirit tickling our noses with every sip, but we can instagram said marvellous creation and let the whole world know that our drinks are more festive than their drinks. Everybody wins.
So with this in mind the Sofitel has created an entire menu, yes a whole menu, not the one off Christmas cocktail, oh no you’ve got a choice, and a hard one at that.
The cocktails are all designed around the theme of fairytales. (We can almost hear the sighs of approval through the screen).
The Moto of the menu is creativity, imagination, and fantasy, words to live by we say. With these as the buzz words flying around we can’t wait to sample them for ourselves.
But how de we begin to choose, each cocktail’s flavours are inspired by the tale it’s supposed to tell. Any guesses for what the Enchanted Rose might be? What was that? Beauty and the Beast, she got it! The Belvedere vodka is infused with red berries, framboise eau de vie fortified with white tea syrup, St Germain liqueur, Peychaud’s, and of course rose water.
Ready for your next pub quiz question, how about the Pin’oak’io … Vida Mezcal infused with peppermint , Lapsang Souchong star anise, rhubarb bitters, lemon juice, orange juice, honey syrup and a little touch of la Fée Absinthe, because let’s face it Pinoccio isn’t actually a real boy, despite all his protestations so the drinking rules don’t apply.
There are seven different cocktails so grab your seven dwarfs, I mean friends, and head down to the Sofitel, step into your own fairytale, cocktail first.
