Why work out in a gym when you can work out on an ice rink? It’s a question you probably haven’t asked yourself before. That was because London hadn’t planned its first barre class on ice. That was until now.
Taking place on the 3rd February, Ashley Verma, founder of new fitness brand, DEFINE.London will be taking to the ice at Ice Rink Canary Wharf to host an hour -long session. The first half of the session will be a barre-based full body work out, prepare for isometric moves, thigh and glute sequences and arm and abdominal moves. The second half is a stretch class, allowing your muscles a chance to recover.
Don’t worry if you have an innate fear of ice skates or you’re more akin to Bambi than Torville and/or Dean, because you don’t even have to don a pair of skates, the classes take place on a yoga mat, so your limbs won’t be going out in all directions… hopefully.
After the session, Ashley will be hosting a brunch at Plateau. The restaurant has just launched its Botanical Brunch and the menu includes the likes of buckwheat galette with spinach and salsify; beetroot tagliatelle, smoked beetroots topped with toasted pine nuts and Almond milk ‘riz au lait for pudding. To drink you’ll find either a Tanqueray G&T or go for a Seedlip mocktail such as the hibiscus and elderflower spritz.
Tickets also include a Sweaty Betty goodie bag, not that we workout just for the active wear…although we do sort of.
The barre class on ice will take place on Saturday 3rd February at Ice Rink Canary Wharf followed by brunch at Plateau and Sweaty Betty goodie bag.
