Spring is just around the corner (forget the fact that we’re set to expect temperatures of -11 c, that’s just a minor detail) and when it does arrive there’ll be an afternoon tea to go with it. Panic over.
The English Country Garden Afternoon Tea will be served at 108 Pantry from the first day of spring, 1st March. With the menu created from ever-changing seasonal ingredients, you’ll find coronation chicken tartlets; smoked salmon on Guinness bread; poppy seed and orange blossom scones with rhubarb jam and orange curd; lavender panna cotta served with a sparkling wine jelly and chocolate and rose opera cake. Wash it down with tea and English sparkling wines including Sussex, Nyetimber Classic Cuvée.
Running with the English country garden theme, cutlery will be shaped like a fork and spade; clotted cream and jam will appear on grass meadow serving boards and terracotta pots will hold sugar cubes. Luckily, they still have plates, because we all know that food is meant to be on a plate, not in a mini chip frying bucket, not on the end of a spade and definitely not in a flat cap…yes, we have come across it. No, we’re not a fan.
