Never again will I be able to hear the words ‘ready, steady’ without wanting to say baaake, as if I was Sue Perkins, more to the point, never again will I hear Sue say those words, yes, I’m probably still the only one who is bitter. Whilst the rest of you wait for the Great British Bake Off I will be heading to Bluebird, for the Bluebird Bake Off which will be held in support of charity WaterAid.
The courtyard will be decorated with gingham bunting, cake stands and the smell of freshly baked pastries from bakeries such as Pearl and Groove and Pophams Bakery. If you reckon that you could give Paul Hollywood a run for his money, then you’ll be able to join in with your own stall. Your challenge: to prepare you interpretation of the classic lemon drizzle cake. Judging it will be Felicity Spector, the pudding obsessed Great Taste Award judge; MasterChef finalist and cookbook author Emma Spitzer and Bluebird’s own pastry chef Roger Pizey.
25% of all proceeds will be going to WaterAid, a charity that brings clean water, decent sanitation and good hygiene to people living in poverty across the world, so you get to eat, compete and help a worthwhile cause.
The Bluebird Bake Off takes place on Sunday 11th February 2018
