If you thought bookclubs were just middle aged women sat assessing the merits of the latest E.L.James ‘novel’ over white wine then think again, and head to Cookbook Club at Craft London. Don’t worry, there should still be white wine.
Organised by Craft London’s Stevie Parle and Head Chef George Upshall, the latest book club will welcome the founders of Prawn on the Lawn, Islington’s favourite seafood restaurant.
Rick and Katie Toogood established Prawn on the Lawn in 2013 as a seafood bar and fishmonger and later extended it out into a restaurant. Their debut cookbook, ‘Prawn on the Lawn: Fish and Seafood to Share’ is a collection of their favourite dishes, and the evening will see them cook a three-course dinner, drawing from the seafood recipes in the book.
It’s the latest in a series of Cookbook Club instalments from Parle which sees some of the most talented cookery writers and chefs come and cook from their books. If you can’t make March’s Prawn on the Lawn then April will see Cabrito founder James Wheltor discuss ‘Goat’, in May Katy Bestow, author of best selling cookbook 15 Minute Vegan, showcase her book and June will the turn of DJ BBQ of DJ BBQ and the BBQ ZOO crew.
This sounds like our perfect version of a book club, and not a Mills & Boon in sight!
Prawn on the Lawn will be held on Thursday 15th March
