Fine dining evokes crisp table cloths, perfectly presented food in grand surroundings. The chance to forget, or just ignore, the various inequalities that both make the meal possible and silently undermine it. Not at An Evening Of Meat.
It’s only appropriate that in what’s been dubbed the Year Of The Woman, we confront the struggle of womankind. And at An Evening Of Meat diners will attempt to do just that as American director Kate March brings her all-female creative collective to The Vaults for an immersive dining experience aiming to be as important as it is innovative and unusual.
Diners at the experience will enjoy an indulgent feast of both food and feminism as they enjoy their five course meal face-to-face with a woman on all-fours. Yes, really.
As guests quaff the wine and savour the meal by Michelin trained Head Chef Chavdar Todorov every dish will be designed to tempt and tantalise the senses, while the expressive dance collective use the tables as a stage to explore femininity. Expect to be confronted with performers struggling to reach the vertical position and explore various aspects of the on-all-fours position, such as vulnerability, strength, stability, sensuality, power, domestication, and unbridled wildness.
The London launch comes after highly successful runs in Sydney, Hong Kong and Berlin and will be available until Sunday 22nd April.
