There are some ‘national’ days and months that we could do without, purely created for the sake of sales, (cynical but true), but there’s one cause that is taking place in March that we are fully on board with: Brain Tumour Awareness Month.
You probably didn’t know that 11,000 people a year will be diagnosed with a brain tumour, that’s 30 people a day. Or that brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40. Yet The Brain Tumour Charity knows that less than 2% of cancer research funding in the UK is spent researching into these tumours.
So, what can you do about it? Well you can join, boutique fitness studio, Psycle London, who is also supporting the month. They’ll be hosting a charity ride class on 28th March which will be led by personal trainer Rod Buchanan who is living a brain tumour himself, and all the money will be going to support The Brain Tumour Charity.
Attending the class will be Ella Mills (Deliciously Ella), the daughter-in-law of Baroness Tessa Jowell, who recently led the UK Brain Cancer Summit; she’ll be joined by her sister, Josh Patterson from Made in Chelsea and Jordan Toms, co-founder of fitness brand Resolute who was also diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2015.
Taking place at 4pm on Wednesday 28th March, it’s a chance to do good and get your workout in.
