Look out of the window right now and I can guarantee that you’ll be looking at a wall of grey sky. Grey on grey. But imagine, if you can, clear blue skies, people walking past not wearing scarves and bobble hats. Umbrellas banished, and champagne flutes bandied. Where would you want to be? Well I’d want to be on the latest summer terrance from Mondrian London, a popup in partnership with Laurent-Perrier.
The hotel, one of my personal faves, already has a champagne takeover going on upstairs and now Laurent-Perrier are going to be working their magic downstairs at river level with their summer terrace wrapped around Sea Containers Restaurant. The terrace, which launches this bank holiday weekend (just another three weeks and counting, guys!), will be awash with flower boxes and dusty pink furnishings, candles and heated lamps, and, most importantly, comes with a menu courtesy of Laurent-Perrier to celebrate 50 years of Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé.
The terrace’s a la carte menu will feature fresh seafood dishes including Strawberry and Champagne Cured Seabass and Hand Dived Scallops with Chickpea Polenta, Heirloom Tomato and Sourdough and Lemon Dressing as well as seasonal summer vegetables including Globe Courgette stuffed with Ricotta, Pink Pepper and Baked Lemon Puree. There will also be a Laurent-Perrier Champagne flight, three flutes; Laurent-Perrier Brut, Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé and Laurent-Perrier Vintage.
Evoking midsummer meadows and with stunning views toward St Paul’s this is the place to head this summer, and expect your Instagram to clog with pictures of the carefully designed terrace.
