If there’s one thing we’ve always got room for it’s tapas. So with this in mind, The Tapas Room was pretty perfect. But is there room for two Tapas Rooms? Deptford Market Yard think so.
The Tapas Room opened last May down in Tooting’s Broadway Market, brought to us by the owners of Pop Brixton’s Donostia Social Club. In an incredibly short time it’s become a mainstay of Tooting Broadway Market’s thriving food scene and so, building on that success, they’ve decided to open a second restaurant, this time in Deptford Market Yard.
The Tapas Room combines a mind-bogglingly wide array of specialist wines, sherries, vermouths and Cava drawn mainly from the Basque region of Spain with a tapas bar and delicatessen. The choice of authentic options is backed up by knowledgable staff with a wealth of local expertise. Meanwhile the space itself is intimate and cleverly designed. So too in their new SE8 location, the shelves will be lined with produce that echo the ingredients in front of guests.
It’s fair to say that The Tapas Room doesn’t exist in a vacuum, the Tooting branch is very much an integral part of a burgeoning foodie scene and rooted in the community in Tooting. The intention is that Deptford will serve the same purpose. As chef and owner Paul Belcher said, “we’re so excited, not only to be opening our second site but to have found another vibrant London community to connect with. We love the idea of The Tapas Room being the local go to place to shop, eat and learn about wine, and look forward to opening our doors to Deptford”. To this end, The Tapas Room will be run regular evenings like Wine Wednesday, tasting tables and specialist supper clubs.
So make room, head to Deptford and get tasting at The Tapas Room.
