Reading, it’s one of life’s simplest pleasures. And whether you’re a Kindle user or paperback purist, there’s nothing better than a good book. Which is why we’re rather excited that this month the Baileys Book Bar is back, it’s five days of celebrating reading and women’s voices.
Taking place at Waterstones Gower Street, the Book Bar will host a series of events dedicated women’s writing and to the six novels on the 2018 Women’s Prize shortlist (which will be announced on the 23rd April). There’ll be lunch time readings hosted by bestselling author Kate Mosse and performed by actors Tori Allen-Martin and James Rastall, definitely a welcome break from mindlessly scrolling our newsfeeds in Pret or eating al desko. Thursday will be all about Emily Bronte as a panel of Bronte enthusiasts discuss their love of Wuthering Heights and on Friday they’llbe paying homage to witty writers and top female comedians including Viv Groskop and Jenny Colgan.
The pop-up will also showcase The Baileys Treat Collective, led by baker Lily Vanilli and including top mixologist Missy Flynn, award-winning chocolatier Lucie Bennett, ice cream supremo Sophia Brothers and leading barista Celeste Wong. This talented troupe has been chosen by Baileys to deliver the ultimate collection of grown-up treats to be showcased at the Baileys Book Bar.
The Baileys Book Bar opens Monday 23rd – Friday 27th April at Waterstones Gower Street
