The Supper Club That Uses Zero Plastic

Plastic, the unavoidable by-product of modern living, scourge of society and bogeyman de jour. Well not at this supper club and panel discussion.

‘Plastic Pledge’ is a supper club not to be missed. Devised by chef Rose Lloyd Owen, the founder of Fare Healthy and Peardrop London, the event will see five delicious courses served in a kitchen entirely devoid of plastic. With dishes created by food and wellness entrepreneur Jasmine Hemsley, Treadwells Chef Patron Chantelle Nicholson, chef and journalist Anna Barnett, eco-chef and food campaigner Tom Hunt, alongside Rose Lloyd Owen, all the dishes will be made to One Planet Plate standards.

The meal starts with an amuse bouche of Dorset rock oyster, lychee and black garlic, courtesy of Tom Hunt and celebrating sustainably sourced fish. Starters from Jasmine Hemsley will consist of braised gem wedges served with fennel seed and sesame gomashio, plus anchovy carrot top chutney. Moving onto mains, Rose Lloyd Owen will cook up a wood pigeon, rhubarb labneh, pistachio dukkah & pickled gorse flowers followed by Chantelle Nicholson’s dark chocolate mousse, cocoa nibs, passionfruit and camomile dessert.

And if that didn’t all sound fantastic enough, given the densely packed kitchen of experts it would be a shame to miss the opportunity to grill them (as it were) and so there will also be a panel discussion focused on the environmental impact of plastic usage and wastage. Guests will also be encouraged to take part in the ‘plastic pledge’, to quit coffee cups, straws or plastic bags for a week, month or lifetime. And after that feast, created entirely without plastic, perhaps it’s not that difficult a pledge to make.
