Where do you go from World’s Best Cocktail Bar? For Dandelyan the answer is to launch a Botanical Suite within Mondrian London, and to do it with the world’s most famous gin maker, Bombay Sapphire.
The idea is simple, take over a hotel suite, totally redesign it and turn it into a tasting room for the month of June. Which is exactly what they’ve done. The suite will include a large botanical terrace with live plant walls and trees, a tasting table with live foliage built in (garnish literally growing on the table!), and a private entrance to an outdoor patio, which will be transformed into a botanical terrace.
The aim of the project is to invite guests to explore their cocktails in more depth and bringing out the chemistry, biology and history behind the drinks. But put down the exercise books and blackboard, it’s going to be fun. Like, really fun.
The Botanical Suite will have a weekly changing menu and concept created by four senior team members at Dandelyan. So the first will be curated by Dandelyan’s senior bartender Will Meredith, who will take inspiration from the disco era and how it affected the world of mixology. The following week Enrico Gonzato will explore what luxury means within the plant kingdom. Later in June senior bartender Jacks Banks will investigate ‘expertise’ in processing ingredients and what a good ingredient even is. And lastly, head bartender Alex Lawrence will introduce some crazy with a menu focusing on what ‘Heaps Mad S4!T’ means to Dandelyan.
This promises to be a truly one-off event at what is officially the world’s best cocktail bar, making it basically unmissable.
