I’ve had art lessons before, it was kind of dull even though I want to say I did pretty well. Some of my pieces have been put up for a Children’s Art exhibition before, not that it’s an impressive feat in any way. I’ve always imagined art classes to be in a secluded studio with a naked model ready to pose for you, but not this one. The Connaught’s outdoor Mayfair Painting Masterclasses return this summer due to popular demand, I bet it’s a fun class because you get to relax and clear your mind with a swish of that brush, and you get to enjoy the sun. When you are surrounded by a lot of things, your imagination expands and you’ve got to let your creativity flow.
This year’s event, ‘En Plein Air in Mayfair’ is launched in collaboration with the Chelsea art store Green & Stone and distinguished British artist Alex Fowler. The three hour masterclass will offer not just expert art tutelage but also a memorable experience with a completed canvas. You will also get to have breakfast at The Connaught with tea and coffee, and equipped with a carefully curated set of Green & Stone art supplies and an easel, as well as an artist apron.
Students will be receiving essential art tips and study site selection, composition advice, and will be learning the tricks of underpainting and colour application techniques to create their very own masterpiece. I feel inspired already! Accommodating up to just 6 people, it’s an exclusive class from 9am-1pm and takes place weekly on selected dates over the summer months. So bring your friends, your spouse, your family! It’s a community for art lovers to give art a go.
