Forget the World Cup, Love Island cool your heels. Wimbledon, is that even happening? There’s only one competition and we’re going to spend the next month or so prepping ourselves. Yes, it’s the 2018 Croquetas Challenge. Let the games begin!

So the event, which will be hosted by Spanish and Italian tapas specialists Ember Yard, invites some of the nation’s best croqueta makers to submit their delicious creations as they vie for the croqueta crown. And the competition isn’t half impressive. Competitors currently lined up for the extravaganza currently include Rovi, Scully, Farang, Breddos Tacos, Eneko, Salt Yard, Opera Tavern, Aqua Nueva, Carousel, Blanchette, Brindisa, Jugged Hare, Claw and Picture; and that’s not even the full roster, you’ll have to wait until Monday 6th August for the full lineup.

The heats, held at Ember Yard, will start on 6th August to an impressive judging panel, as well as restaurant diners, who will decide who goes through to the next stage. The challenge is simple: create a twist on the traditional croqueta. The second heat will follow on Monday 13th August and six finalists will then be put through to a grand finale on 3rd September.

Tickets for the events will include samples of each creation and promise to be fun and taste-filled events, the race is on.
