If there’s one thing we love about James Bond aside from the beautiful women, it’s the beautiful cars. And whilst Pierce Brosnan has been known to showcase some questionable vocal chords on cliff edges in Mamma Mia, he is also, on another note, a bit of a dab hand at car racing.
Car aficionados (and lovers of the smooth brown locks of Pierce Brosnan) may remember a certain car race on a French mountain road in 1995’s Goldeneye, in a certain Aston DB5. Now, the exact same DB5 is being auctioned on 13th July at the Goodwood Festival of Speed Sale, estimated to fetch between £1.2m and £1.6m. The car’s sophistication and sleekness are understandably eye catching, as a staple of cinematic glory and quintessential Britishness.
Silver in colour, the classic automobile features a black leather interior, and a six-cylinder, 4.0-litre engine under the bonnet. The beauty was purchased by the current owner in 2001 and quickly became the most valuable piece of Bond memorabilia ever sold.
So, if you fancy a ride in a classic car, and have a spare 1.2 million lying around, then what’s stopping you? Going once, going twice…
The auction at Goodwood Festival takes place on 13th July at Goodwood House, Chichester, West Sussex, PO18 0PX, www.goodwood.com
