Wondering how to spend your afternoons this summer? You might be interested in experiencing an enchanting Midsummer Night’s Dream pop-up at Swan, Shakespeare’s Globe. And rightfully so, because where else would you celebrate Shakespeare? The theme splits between Titania’s Tea Garden for Afternoon Tea and Puck’s Gin Emporium for an evening gin bar. The midsummer’s garden will be decorated with tumbling wisteria, trailing ivy and overflowing florals for a Fairyland in the Balcony Room, right on the river with stunning views to St Paul’s Cathedral.

Titania’s Tea Garden will be in service for afternoon tea serving sandwiches, cakes and scones on bespoke crockery designed by Annika Wester, and Puck’s Gin Emporium takes over the space in the evening with a selection of cocktails and sharing plates on offer. The cocktails are made with Bombay Sapphire gin, including a Love Potion cocktail that turns from white to purple, made with honey and Prosecco, and served with a tincture of blackberry juice to turn the cocktail a deep purple.

Taking direct inspiration from the lines of the play, Oberon’s description of a flower struck by Cupid’s bow “before milk-white, now purple with love’s wound” with a twist. The flower called love-in-idleness, as you drop a little sap from the flower on a sleeping person’s eyes, and when they wake up, they will fall madly in love with the first person they see! Talk about a concoction for the singles looking for love.

This is the perfect place on London’s Bankside for a summery twist on a traditional afternoon tea or an evening cocktail in a fairyland forest overlooking one of the best views of the capital.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream pop up will run  from July 27th to September 2nd at 21 New Globe Walk, Bankside, London SE1 9DT
