We were blissfully unaware that there’s such a thing as a dial hitting “aperitivo hour”, alas apparently there is, and orange certainly is the new black.
Introducing The Aperol Sundial Social, which is all about the wonderful drink that is the Aperol Spritz, if you hadn’t guessed. A wander down an Italian walkway sees the orange liquid lining streets and being cradled in many a hand. However, our unwavering love for it in London means pop-up bars such as this are offering “gratuiti” (that’s free for those less accustomed to the Italian tongue) Aperol Spritz when the 20ft wide sundial hits aperitivo hour.
The experience located in the Queen’s Stone area in Southbank, comes after research by the Italian brand showed that 56% of Brits think they have lost all spontaneity – unless England are doing well in the World Cup, in which case all plans are cancelled and pub rushes are bountiful – however, a fifth of Londoners say they haven’t been for a spontaneous drink with a friend in over 5 months.
Well… if these stats are causing Aperol to give away free spritzes then we say Britain, stop spontaneity altogether!
