This weather, it’s great we’ve had a scorcher of week and it’s set to continue, but here’s my British gripe about the weather. Don’t you find that London just isn’t equipped? The trains fall apart, the tubes are unbearably muggy, and most offices don’t have aircon. You think you’ll skip out of the house in a summer dress, having woken up with the sun and live life at a slower pace, read your book in the sun, have drinks on a terrace. In reality you’re stuck on a B.O riddled bus, a wasp gets near your picnic and the terrace has a queue. Before I have us all wishing for winter, here’s some better news, Italian restaurant Bocconcino is providing us with a little escapism so we really can live our best summer lives by bringing the Tuscan beach town of Forte Dei Marmi to Mayfair in the pursuit of La Bella Vita.
Starting today the celebration begins with free gelato every day until the 8th July, yaaas. Look out for the Bocconcino gelato cart travelling around Berkeley Street and the surrounding area between 12pm and 3pm. Not only can you get free gelato but take a photo of you by the cart and share it with the tag #LBVBocconcino to be in with the chance to win 4 tickets to their upcoming Buono brunch.
The Buono bottomless brunches will take place on the 21st July, and 4th, 25th and 26th August and will be a chance to indulge in two hours of free -flowing Prosecco, plenty of pizza, pasta and salads as a guitarist keeps you entertained, so you can forget all about work emails, and sweaty train carriages.

If you’re not brunching, then check out their new set summer menu which has dishes such as homemade tagliatelle with slow cooked veal ragu; seabass fillet with potato, olives and tomatoes and plenty of sorbet. Although, for us the winner is the Grana Padano Wheel, because how else do you want your Grana Padano pasta served than spun in a hot, giant cheese wheel right by your table? And you can add truffle shavings. Decadent doesn’t come close.
Bringing the cocktails is Campari, who they’ve curated a menu of five summer cocktails with, they’ve also partnered with The Estorick Collection for their ‘The Art of Campari’ exhibition; which means if you’ve been to visit the exhibition you’ll get a complimentary Campari cocktail with the summer set menu, otherwise you can drink classics like Negronis, Americanos and modern twists on favourites like the Milanese G&T.
If we all live the Bocconcino summer life then things are going to be pretty good for the next couple of months.
La Bella Vita takes place from the 2nd July to the 2nd September with the gelato pop-up running from the 2nd – 8th July.
