The Ultimate Fried Chicken Championship Returns

The Ultimate Fried Chicken Championship Returns

London’s fried chicken game is strong. It’s clucking strong and it is only growing, which is why last year KERB set about celebrating the very best chicken traders with the Bucket List. The ultimate chicken-off between street traders and fried chicken purveyors, all competing to be the boss of the birds (rather like Love Island) and it’s set to return next week.

Across the two days, eight of the best fried-chicken creators from KERB and guests will battle it out to be named the KERB Colonel and to win the golden cock. Those taking on the challenge are: Mother Flipper, Bian Dang, Da ja chicken, Butchies, Thunderbird, Morley’s, a special guest and reigning champions Petare. The 2017 winners will be back to see if they can make it two years running with their winning guava glaze, habanero mayo, Venezulan style masa-fried thigh.

KERB has also teamed up with Frank’s RedHot, the original buffalo sauce gurus to spice things up with a hot sauce photo booth, beer pong games, American games and a buffalo wing eating contest, which they say is only for the bravest and most obsessed fried chicken lovers. You’ll need to have a mouth that can tolerate the heat, the Nandos lemon and herb fans need not apply.

To wash it all down you’ll find KERB-FC Bloody Mary’s, Rooten Tooten rum floats (KERBlaboration with Nonna’s  vanilla gelato), fruity pineapple and gin ‘Creme de la Cluck’s’, Square Root’s hand-squeezed raspberry lemonade and seasonal sodas plus beers from London craft brewers, Fourpure Brewing Co., Five Points Brewing Company and Chapel Down wines

All you need to do, is work your way through eight buckets of chicken and vote. Simple… and so.darn.tasty.

All tickets include a bottle of Frank’s RedHot sauce, a bucket of chicken from each trader and if you still have space for more fried chicken you can buy more dishes.

The Bucket List takes place from Friday 20th July – Saturday 21st July over three sessions at the West Handyside Canopy, King’s Cross, N1C.
