We said we’d be back with more information when we first told you about Meatopia back in April and now we can give you all the details…
In amongst a year of vegan offerings, there is one festival which will satisfy all our carnivorous cravings: Meatopia.
Taking place at Tobacoo Dock from Friday 31st August – Sunday 2nd September, Meatopia is three days of meat and one-off dishes all cooked over fire. It’s the ultimate barbecue. Now in its sixth year, it’s going to be even bigger with more dishes, drinks, music and fire.
The line-up is will include several critically acclaimed chefs making their Meatopia debut and also Meatopia veterans to help them through. Fresh faces include Jeremy Chan of Ikoyi, Neil Campbell of ROVI, Sam Bryant of Coal Rooms, Jackson Boxer and Andrew Clarke of St Leonards and Aaron Webster and Remi Williams of Smoke & Salt whilst returners include Yotam Ottolenghi, Nud Dudhia of Breddos Tacos, David Carter of Smokestak and Meatopia UK Founder Richard H Turner.
Coming in from overseas will be Lennox Hastie of critically acclaimed Firedoor in Sydney, Athanasios “Tommy” Kargatzidis of Baron in Beirut, Joris Bijdendijk from Amsterdam’s famous Rijks,Aleksey Burov of Smoke BBQ in St Petersburg, Holy Smoke’s Johan Fritzell from Sweden and a very special cross-country collaboration from Uri Navon from Machneyuda in Jerusalem and Dan Yosha from Balagan in Paris.
There’ll be informal workshops, live chef demos from the Cutting Room stage and the return of Melissa Cole’s craft beer extravaganza, Craftopia. New breweries to the line up include Mondon, Two Tribes and Big Hug who will set up shop next to Four Pure, Beavertown and Lagunitas.
