It’s not long to go now until Jimmy’s Lodge on the River is back at the Southbank Centre, and yes, before you ask, there are igloos involved.
Opening on the 9th November, the pop-up consists of four elements. Of course everyone will be heading straight to the headline-grabbing ‘snow-globe style igloos’ which, this year, have been decorated by furniture floggers MADE.COM, to give them a really cosy winter-cabin feel. Each can one host up to ten people for a private dining experience with great views across the river. You can even plug in your own playlist so if you want, think All I Want For Christmas on repeat, if you’re so inclined.
Other elements include a wooden cabin, divided between The Refuge, Alpine Bar and Chalet Snack Bar. The Refuge is upstairs, a twinkly-lit dining room where they’ll be serving up a set menu at lunch, pre-theatre and dinner with dishes including home-smoked mackerel rillettes; smoked Scottish venison tartare and sharing dishes of fondue and steak. Meanwhile, at the Alpine Bar you’ll find warming cocktails and flasks of hot drinks, while at the Chalet Snack Bar you’ll be able to pick up street food, perfect for tucking into as you stroll along Southbank. Munch a venison hot dog, cheesy chips, the Lodge Raclette burger and schnitzels as the river rolls by. Sounds like the perfect winter date.
Whether you’re looking to party it up in an igloo, refuel with street food or just stop by for a warming cocktail then you need to head to the lodge. Just expect it to be popular, so get booking those igloos now.
