There’s A Floating Cinema Playing Christmas Classics

A cinema that floats? Go on then. It is Christmas after all! St Katherine’s Dock has had a makeover; the kind that invites you to snuggle up under cosy blankets and canopies of fairy lights and well… float and bob up and down! The film festival returns for another year of gentle bobbing and film classics to celebrate the festival period upon us. You’ll be able to watch classics such as Elf, The Holiday, Love Actually, Home Alone and Miracle on 34th Street whilst you sink into marshmallow like bean bags and chortle at Hugh Grant’s continuous Love Actually mishaps.

At the bar you can delve into festive drinks with a wide offering of the classics available. There’s hot choc, and steaming mulled wine to warm you up. And well, to be honest it looks like the cosiest thing we’ve ever seen – perhaps akin to the type of dens we tried to construct as kids for sleepovers, except they were never anywhere near this good!

The floating cinema has been a bit of a St Katherine’s Dock staple having popped up in Summer with films including The Greatest Showman, Paddington 2, Three Billboards and more. And this year, to accompany the Christmas vibes, you’ll look onto a sparkling tree. Plus, as seen below, Santa has just turned on all the lights. What a nice chap! So, don your best Santa hats and get on the nice list by coming down to the floating cinema!

The floating cinema will be around until the 9th of December (we’re making Christmas wishes that it was longer!), and screenings begin at 7pm on weeknights, and 2pm and 7pm on weekends. Find more film screenings and premieres here
