Any Jason won’t do for the return of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, because we want Jason Donavan only, and turns out our wishes have been granted.

The colourful classic will see Jason return as popular role the Pharaoh, a part he played as a younger, blonder lad back in the 1990s. Taking place in the London Palladium, the dreamy show will play a limited 11-week season that begins in June, seeing everyone up on their feet boogying to Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice favourites.

Back in the 1990s, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat made waves with  a sold-out 18-month run which produced a No.1 single and best-selling soundtrack album. Alongside Jason Donavan, the production has seen various other famous faces play roles including Donny Osmond, Joe McElderry and Philip Schofield. Now, we’ll witness a revamp that includes Sheridan Smith playing the narrator and moving the story along with hilarity and colour but, we’re afraid, Joseph is yet to be revealed…

Of the news, Jason has said: “Joseph was a ground breaker in 1991, and what a blast it will be to be back on the prestigious Palladium stage and be part of it all again with a brand new cast in this re-imagined 2019 production. I’m looking forward to breathing new life into Pharaoh and I’m so relieved he doesn’t wear a loin cloth!”

Go, go, go Joseph (and Jason!)

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat runs from Thursday 27 June until 8th September 2019. Find tickets here
