It’s the series that had us all laughing, crying and hiding behind our seats in utter disgust. Yep, you may have heard on the good ol’ internet grapevine that the insatiably popular Killing Eve has returned for a second season but not to the UK just yet.
Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh were back to their sadistic tricks this week as season two premiered on BBC America, with critics praising its “twisted, darkly-comic notes.” Season one, which was nominated for five Bafta TV Awards captured our hearts as Jodie played charismatic assassin Villanelle who we kinda didn’t know whether to love or hate. Unfortunately, there’s still no word on when the season will hit our screens in the UK as it has yet to be announced by the BBC. Queue a nation grunting and growling.
It’s estimated to be around June time after all eight episodes have aired on BBC America which, by the way, has its Killing Eve guard up costing a few bucks to sign up to the subscription service. Alas, if you’re a super fan we’re sure you’ll find a way!
And more big news for fans of a twisted spy thriller – umm, so all of us – it was announced this week that there will be a third season coming out in the near future. Alas, we’re hoping it’s not going to go all Game of Thrones on us and make us wait quite literally over a year for the next dose of action. We’re sure it’ll be equally as popular either way considering the roaring success of the first season which the BBC iPlayer has had more than 46 million requests for; a whopping amount given the population of the UK alone is around 66 million.
Season two starts from where things left off – no spoilers, but it was a pretty gruesome end, and one that we know Villanelle will not stand for. The season opener picks up 30 seconds after “the incident” so we’re sure we’ll see a very angry Villanelle and a wholly terrified Eve.
Oh, and by the way, you should never tell a psychopath they are a psychopath, it upsets them…
All that’s left to say is watch this space!
