Think Jim Henson’s The Labyrinth in the style of a chic restaurant and botanical bar and you have the new Hello Darling, an immersive collaboration from theatrical set designers Darling and Edge, arts venue The Vaults and 2013 Masterchef winner Natalie Coleman, opening in May. Each spiralling room feels like an escape from the bustling city streets of Waterloo helping to create an intimate feeling intricately decorated with hand-painted furniture, frescoed ceilings and theatrical artwork.
The large dining areas feels as though you are walking into an extravagant west-end theatrical performance, catering for 80 covers, surrounded with beautiful artwork, endless collectables and oddities. And if you are headed to the iconic London theatre, The Old Vic, this hang out is the perfect spot to grab food before your show. Despite being new, Hello Darling has created its own sense of personality and it truly owning it with the help of the floral tapas designed by Natalie Coleman and its herby selection of cocktails.
Coleman has worked profusely hard in creating the menu which fits the charming elegance of Hello Darling’s surroundings offering sharing dishes incorporating flavours like wasabi and watermelon, and spiced walnuts infused with blood orange and heritage beetroot. Indulge in these sharing dishes and if you fancy it, reside in the bathtub while you sip on their whimsical floral and herbaceous array of cocktails – it’s not everyday you can enjoy these flavours in the luxury of your new ‘home’.
From the cosy library covered in hundreds of butterflies to one room feeling as though you are inside an old school circus with a giant lion’s head and big-top-tent wallpaper, Hello Darling will definitely be our new glamorous hang-out this summer.
