Everyone loves a monster: Loch Ness, Godzilla, The Yeti, Stalin, all the usual names. And now Alexandra Palace.
The Monster is a 300m inflatable obstacle course that includes over 40 obstacles, an 18 metre ‘mega slide’, something called the ‘exterminator’ and the jolly sounding ‘house of hell’. This is the bouncy castle of your dreams (if that’s the sort of vanilla stuff you you do dream about). It even bears a passing resemblance to Boris Johnson.
As if that wasn’t enough to get your blood flowing, away from the main bouncy drag there’s Drag Queen Karaoke and boozy bingo and much more. Boozy Bingo will be giving out prizes all day and involves traditional bingo but with twists including dance-offs. Drag Queen Karaoke is hosted by the Monster Queens, along with their back-up dancers the Monster Maniac, and guests can party away to disco and party classics all night and day.
Throw in super-sized beer pong tables and the Glitter Wheel of Wonder where artists will be on hand to ‘glam up revellers in jazzy make-up’. Which is pretty much a pre-requisite for hitting the dance floor where DJs will be blasting bangers all day long. Oh, and stand by for more prizes.
Want to check out some unicorn balls? Hit the giant inflatable flamingo and unicorn ball pits. Feeling hungry? There’ll be food and drink from some of London’s best independent food traders (names presumably TBC) as well as cocktails and craft beers (obvs).
It’s easy to assume that this bouncy castle, ball pit, soft play extravaganza must only be for grown ups. No, amid all the adult fun (not that sort of fun) there will also be a two-day children special over the Summer hols, with special kid-friendly elements added (we’re guessing Boozy Bingo’s off) for children aged seven to 15 on 27th and 28th August.
Tickets, priced at £25 each, are available online from today and The Monster will be monitoring from Friday 23rd August to Wednesday 28th. And, it’s going to be monster.
