If you’re dreaming of an American getaway, look no further. With The American Bar at The Stafford, you’ll be taken on a journey through America’s history, celebrating its richness in music, sport, literature and touching on monumental events in their political calendar. They’ve launched their very own The American Dream cocktail collection and new all-day bar menu showcasing the best of the classics and sharing plates. Known for being one of the last remaining ‘American’ cocktail bars that became part of London and Paris during the 1920s and 30s, The American Bar soon becomes a favourite with both guests and passers-by, and has done so for over a century.
The cocktail menu is a total celebration of The American Dream and recognises those who grabbed theirs and achieved it. From the great inventor, Thomas Edison and the California Gold Rush of 1849, to, of course, Hollywood’s Golden Age and the moon landing back in 1969. Not forgetting The Fronier cocktail, that’s inspired by the treacherous Wild West and those who braved the journey to triumph their dreams westwards, a wild combination of Corte Vetusto Mezcal Espadin, jalapeño infused gin, with pomegranate and lime.
As a homage to the 19th Century author, Edgar Allen Poe, whose famous for his mystery stories and the macabre, The Raven cocktail is a true tribute to American kitchen cupboard staples. It’s made with peanut butter infused whiskey, mixed with all-American maple syrup and chocolate bitters. Enjoy these at the bar or venture out to the cobbled courtyard
And for the food I hear you say? Culinary Director, Ben Tish, has curated a menu perfect for a light bite or a wholehearted feast to be shared with friends. From freshly made sandwiches and bar classics to sharing dishes. Highlights include; spice lamb arancini with peas, broad beans and mint; smoked aubergine, green tahini, chickpeas and cumin salt; and charcoal grilled British ribeye served with courgette, sprouting broccoli, chermoula and buttermilk fried onions.
