The Handbook
The Handbook

Life’s a beach if you live in Fulham, what with the tube and gridlock come Chelsea matches. But while it might be London’s least imaginative place to live, there’s nevertheless no shortage of fun things to do in the borough that’s not quite Chelsea, and top amongst them has to be Fulham Beach. So prepare to be transported to a Jungle Beach Paradise on the shores of a distant desert island (AKA Fulham, just next door to the concrete works).

Seemingly edging away from its previous Neverland branding in a post-Michael-Jackson-being-acceptable world, Fulham Beach is now rocking a Jungle Theme and comes with all the beach party accoutrements that we now expect, like your own beach hut, an exclusive cabana and a jungle covered pergola. So prepare to relax in the sun, lie back and think of anywhere but England.

And if relaxation’s not your game, then you’ll want to try out yoga sessions on the beach, cocktail masterclasses and (ideal if you’re off to work the next day) glitter artists. There’s even a sand sculptor. If you’re more active then get stuck into mini golf, shuffleboard, ping pong and beer pong.

OR, what about cinema? The big screen has, literally arrived, and here’s what’s going down every Tuesday:

18th June – The Notebook
25th June – There’s Something About Mary

2nd July – Grease
9th July – Dirty Dancing
16th July – The Beach
23rd July – A star is Born
30th July – Bohemian Rhapsody

13th August – Four Weddings & A Funeral
20th August – Notting Hill

Tickets will cost £15 each and the price includes popcorn!

If flicks aren’t your thing, and if the tropical weather hasn’t robbed your appetite then you’ll also want to tuck into the beach BBQ (expect supper clubs) and choose from various street- food options, while sipping cocktails at the beach bar and flamingo bar to the backing of cool DJs into the small hours.

The beach is dog and family friendly and you can even purchase membership for the whole summer (take that, Hurlingham).
