The Handbook
The Handbook

Oh yes, The Berkeley has been up to its old tricks again and this time it’s with the brand new launch of The Berkeley Bar and Terrace. You’re soon to be feeling like a bougie wine connoisseur, indulging in a fine selection of rare wines, Champagne and dark spirits, yippee!

From July 15th, we’ll be engulfed in the rich design story conceived by Irish interior designer Bryan O’Sullivan thanks to the opening of The Berkeley Bar and Terrace. It’s the second bar to open at this landmark five star hotel joining the notorious Blue Bar which opened back in 2000.

There’s a really intimate feel to this new bar, with a sense of old world glamour and its own terrace for the warmer evenings overlooking St Paul’s Church. The space totally gives off 1970s vibes thanks to the decor. The central material is a stunning walnut wood, taken from a 300-year-old tree from the Fullback Estate, Lincolnshire. It’s coupled with a colour palette of soft corals, creams and pinks to offset its earthy richness. Oooh it’s so dreamy!

Let’s not forget, there’s certainly some cosy spots hidden away too.

The snug has been specially designed for secluded occasions, seating up to nine guests. There’s a stunning mural, painted by New York-based artist TM Davy, developed together with Bryan O’Sullivan. The snug is even equipped with its own sound system and call-for-service button, so you could boogie the night away in your own bespoke space if you really wanted.

Wine connoisseurs or guests just looking to up their wine tipple with exquisite wine can rejoice knowing there’s plenty on offer here, spanning an array of grape varieties and countries. Fear not Champagne fans, there’s an exclusive section for the fizz too!

To mark the special opening, The Berkeley team have been working with Scottish whiskey producers Gordon and MacPhail on the creation of a rare whiskey from 1972, the year that the hotel opened. Pair a glass with one of their fine cigars and you’re good to go! But be quick, as there’s only two bottles of this special stuff.

The Berkeley, whatcha’ got cooking though?

From Cornish crab and lobster beignets to Iberico ham toast with manchego, apricot and salsa verde, there’s a whole bunch of small plates to gobble down! Not forgetting a whole host of classic caviar and oyster dishes to chow down too.

The Berkeley Bar & Terrace is now open! At The Berkeley, Wilton Place, Knightsbridge, SW1X 7RL,
