The Handbook
The Handbook

Is it just us or does the summer seem to be slipping away with the wind? And what the heck happened to the summery weather we’d grown to know and love so dearly?! The nights are already drawing in, winter is itching to make an early appearance, and we’re losing our mind over the fact all of the summer pop-ups are coming to an early end. But in an attempt to soak up the last of the summer, pop on your maxi dress, grab your heels, and why not head over to the mega summer garden party happening over at Battersea Power Station!

Having opened up to the public for the first time this month, Battersea Power Station’s historic Grade II*-listed jetty will be home to the summer garden party, running until 1st September. For the next few weeks, the coaling jetty will house an array of live music, food and drink stalls, wellness sessions, and a whole lotta family fun!

Back in the day, the 133 metre long coaling jetty was used for the loading and unloading of coal until it was decommissioned in 1983. Catapult forward to 2019, and it’s home to one of the London’s up and coming areas. Every Thursday to Sunday this month, it’s being transformed into a funky summer garden littered with family fun activities.

So what’s on the cards this summer? Starting off the week, you’ll be grooving to jazz on the jetty every Thursday from 6-8pm, cocktail in tow! Or if you’re into DJ club classics, you can raise a glass to the weekend and dance the Friday night away to a tune or two. On Saturday and Sunday, there’ll be performances from Busk in London, the world’s largest street performance initiative, who’ll be bringing the vibes to Battersea. You never know, you could be listening to the next Ed Sheeran!

If you need a little Dutch courage before you step on the dance floor, why not get your wine on at one of Vagabond Wines English wine tasting sessions. All of the tipples have been picked in the heart of the British countryside and made at the power station! Get your pilates fix with Pilates PT, the UK’s leading pilates studio, at their Saturday morning classes. Of if you’re more of a yoga kinda gal, get your stretch on at one of OyoGO’s Sunday yoga classes, while the kids cause mayhem with the Sharky and George entertainment team.

No summer pop-up would be complete without a bunch of street food vendors now would it? You’ll find a selection of Circus West Village’s restos and bars popping up to fuel you through the day, plus the River Walk Market will be making its weekly weekend appearance too. Think artisan bread, cured meats, and summer dessert-y treats. Mmm!
