Just when we thought we’d heard every restaurant name under the sun, there’s a new one hatching in central delightfully named Eggslut. Yep, you read that correctly. This LA-based diner has flown the nest over the Atlantic ocean launching their very first London venue, and it’s opening tomorrow!

On 7th August, this new eatery is landing on Portobello Road and it’s been stirring up a bit of a name for itself. Mainly because of it’s charming name. But also because it’s serving up the ultimate comfort food – an eggy bap!

Oh damn son. This is an egg bun we’ve wanted to try since forever! 🍳 . Basically, and I don’t mean to be rude, but you need to get your a** down to @eggslutuk when they open on Portobello Road in August 🤤 We visited @tasteoflondon last week for an awesome exclusive taste of the buns before they hit Londons streets more permanently❗️ . These guys smashed out some gorgeous soft and creamy scrambled eggs full of chives and coated in the perfect egg condiment – Sriracha mayo 😍 The bun was top notch, and the flavours were INSANE. Granted, you can’t beat an eggy bap, but with it being one of the easiest dishes to rustle up, it’s hard to justify spending the buck on when you’re roaming the city. Which is probably where the endearing name made its way into the equation.

This LA fast-food joint serves up an upscaled McMuffin but they’re committed to using local suppliers, and they’ve certainly picked out some of London’s finest for the new branch! Eggslut’s “cage-free” eggs will be produced by Clarence Court, then Bread Ahead are on hand to make the baps, and roasters Nude Coffee are set to be supplying the cups o’ Joe!

So hey good lookin’, whatcha got cookin’?

Well a whole lotta eggs that’s what! Eggslut is bringing their signature ‘slut’ to the UK. You’ll soon be gobbling down cage-free coddled egg on top of a smooth potato purée, that’s been poached in a glass jar, topped with grey salt and chives and served with a couple of slices of baguette. Sounds eggcellent! Another crowd favourite is the Fairfax, consisting of soft scrambled eggs and chives, cheddar cheese, caramelised onions and sriracha mayo popped into a warm brioche bun.

You’ll have to wait until tomorrow to see the full eggsquisite menu, just don’t scramble your brain trying to figure it out…
