With all the news about glaciers disappearing and the world slowly heating up, you might have been worried that the now annual tradition of every single restaurant in London launching igloos for winter might be under threat. Fear not, your favourite iglooists would never pass up on the commercial opportunity of offering guests these outdoor perspex tents to dine in.

And first off the starting block is Jimmy Garcia. The pop-up and events company has started taking bookings for their Southbank igloos, slated to open in early November, and we’re pretty sure it’s just the tip of the iceberg. The igloos will soon be joined by the likes of Coppa Club, INAMO, Neverland and so on.

The lodges will feature the Refuge Restaurant, an alpine resto that’ll serve steaks cooked on hot stones, fondue pots, not to mention mixed cheese and charcuterie boards and puddings of poached pears and hot chocolate sauce, straight to your private igloo, good for up to ten guests or else indulge in the main lodge where there’ll be seating for everyone who wasn’t lucky enough to bag an igloo.

The dining options will range from the Refuge to the Alpine Bar (serving winter-warmers from partner Martin Miller’s Gin and the chalet snack bar, serving festive food including the famous Lodge Raclette Burger, Venison Hot Dog and the more-moreish-than-crack Aspen fries with truffle oil.

We’ll be heading down just as soon as the igloos open on November 9th, and you can book too here…

Here are some of our favourite igloos from last year…
