There’s A Fresh Prince In Town: The Prince Akatoki London Opens

By Lottie Woodrow | 16th September 2019

Now this is a story all about how one hotel got turned right upside down… Okay, okay, enough with The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air lyrics, because there’s a new prince swanning his way into the city, only this time in the shape of a new luxury five star hotel…

By now you’ve probably heard the rumours but notorious Marylebone hotel, The Arch has undergone a multi-million pound transformation under the new name The Prince Akatoki London. Oh, and the best news? It’s opening today!

Locked in the heart of the city in Great Cumberland Place, The Arch has been replaced with The Prince Akatoki London who’ll be combining a refined Japanese aesthetic with notes of Western heritage, and just from looking at their dreamy minimalistic aesthetic, we can tell it’s going to be a lux new urban sanctuary that we’d much rather be keeping to ourselves…

So, how’s the hotel been spruced up? Well, upon arriving at the luxury hotel, you’ll be greeted with warming tranquility from the light muted interiors and warm accents. The entrance is adorn with delicate Japanese touches, one being the individual circular pods, reflecting Japan’s loving approach to personalised hospitality.¬†Opposite, you’ll find traditional Japanese furniture, hidden metallic lighting and sleek dark timber.

The rooms and suites follow suit with the minimalistic aesthetic, only this time taking a little inspiration from Scandinavian design. Every room is home to striking painted fusuma panel-inspired wall hangings oozing with cream, pink and red hues, which will sure make you all feel very zen. The low timber beds, lighting and low side tables, designed by Stellar Works and Muuto, have refreshed the rooms and all keep in with traditional Japanese inspired interiors. It’s certainly a space we can imagine falling deep into a tranquil sleep.

And, let us guess, you’re wondering where you can fulfil your belly rumbles? Venture over to the brand-new destination dining resto, Tokii, where you can enjoy Japanese-inspired banquettes with traditional furnishings or if you fancy indulging in a bucket load of sushi, head over to the chic sushi counter. While over in The Malt Lounge and Bar, you’ll be sipping on Japanese tea by day, and rare Japanese whiskies and sakes by night.¬†You’ll have to wait a little longer as Tokii and The Malt Lounge and Bar won’t be opening until October but they’ll certainly be on the top of our dining and drinking bucket list spots to head to this Autumn…
