What do you get when some of London’s coolest women such as Alexa Chung, Poppy Delevingne, Sharmadean Reid and Otegha Uwagba come together? The founding members of arguably London’s newest and coolest new members club.
Originally hailing from NYC, The Wing is London’s latest female-only, private members club and it sure to shake up what we know about exclusive associations. Championing women from all backgrounds, the brand already have clubs across North American which bring together 10,000 women and counting from almost every age group, profession and ethnicity. Think of The Wing as the antidote to stuffy, institutionalised and exclusory members clubs.
Founded by Audrey Gelman and Lauren Kassan in 2016, the brand is committed to bringing women together to help them thrive, whether that’s through friendship, support circles, professional mentoring or networking events. The cost? London’s new Fitzrovia outpost starts from £170. Not a drop in the ocean, but considerably more affordable than many of London’s clubs.
The five-story townhouse features everything from a tearoom to a portrait gallery – which houses an epic oil painting of Phoebe Waller-Bridge FYI – cool phone booths and conference rooms, plus a beauty room and more. The interiors are seriously slick, from the sugar almond-hued chairs to the Pinterest-worthy curated full-wall bookcase. Of the moment foliage is dotted amongst the luxe furnishings while vibrant blasts of colour come from Rubelli floral fabrics and Caitlin McGauley wallpaper. Dreamy.
But it’s not all style over substance, at the core of The Wing are its values and the team are committed to supporting local non-profits and offer a scholarship program that gives free membership to individuals whose work supports the advancement of marginalised women and girls throughout the world.
