Breakfast At Tiffany’s Really Is A Thing Now

And I said, “What about Breakfast at Tiffany’s?” And she said “I think Harrods have just started doing this, and what’s more I think we’ll both kinda like it”…

It’s an indisputable fact that if you’re a purveyor of fine jewellery and diamonds then of course you’re going to be a natural when it comes to cooking eggs Benedict. Not. But incredibly, that rule actually does seem to apply at Harrods this spring as the gaudy department store welcomes The Tiffany Blue Box Café for a limited season.

The jewellery store that owes a considerable amount to Audery Hepburn’s 1961 classic Breakfast At Tiffany’s (and maybe a slightly more negligible debt to the 1990s Deep Blue Something hit) has decided to put its breakfasting credentials to the test with a pop-up at Harrods. Reportedly launching the day after Valentine’s Day (curious missed opportunity there), The Tiffany Blue Box Café will serve breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner to guests keen to get a piece of the Tiffany’s experience. Expect lashings of duck egg green and Tiffany china inset with precious amazonite stones as you dine in a so-called Tiffany jewellery box.

According to Richard Moore, Tiffany & Co’s Divisional Vice President, Global Store Design and Creative Visual Merchandising (a title which basically must fill his entire business card), “We are excited to introduce the Tiffany Blue Box Café to Europe,  and it seems only fitting to do so at Harrods, one of the world’s most iconic department stores”. The concept has already been a great money-spinner in New York, Shanghai and Hong Kong, so it’s only natural that Londoners get a piece of the cake. Or smoked salmon sandwiches or scones.

Odds on fave to become the Instagram proposal spot of choice (albeit with an H Samuel ring), it’s also worth a visit if you fancy trying something a little bit different, are a Hepburn obsessive or just love Cambridge blue…

Bookings open on a weekly basis on Friday mornings for the upcoming week. Expect it to be incredibly popular. Click here for bookings…
