Alton Towers pack your bags, Thorpe Park we’ll see you later, there’s a new kid on the theme park block. Or, at least, there may soon be thanks to the ‘UK’s answer to Disneyland’. And it’s just got closer to becoming reality as the planning moves to the consultation phase.

An entertainment resort that closely resembles Disneyland is parking up a 17-min train ride outside of London and we’ve got our magical carpets at the ready to Alice in Wonderland our way to its front doors. The theme park is a Hollywood-cum-Disneyland conglomeration that is bringing back all sorts of childlike memories in us, and is set to be riddled with all sorts of rides, attractions, live shows and parades.

Named ‘The London Resort’, this is set to be the UK’s own Disney, welcoming around 40,000 visitors each day and will be the first theme park to be built from scratch in Europe since Disneyland Paris opened in 1992.

Expected to costing around £3.5billion, the park has now brought Paramount Pictures onboard, making the chances of this becoming reality even more likely. The studios have produced films from the likes of the Marvel series to Top Gun to Wolf of Wall Street. Fancy the Ferris Bueller Ferris Wheel? It might become a reality.

Slated for potential construction beginning in 2022 with opening in 2024, the site includes two theme parks, a water park, a conference centre, as well as hotels, retail space and restaurants.

The consultation is open to the public now as the Kent council of Dartford, Gravesham and Thurrock considers the implications. If you want to get involved and help make this theme park dream come true, head to the website…
