This is not a drill… Mark your calendars for October 2024 when The Devil Wears Prada musical finally comes to the West End.

We’ve been eagerly waiting for this one since we first heard about its rumour back in 2019 but it’s officially been confirmed that the iconic 00s film is coming to London’s Dominion Theatre next year and tickets have just gone on sale!

Packed with an epic original score by Elton John, choreography by three-time Tony Award winner Jerry Mitchell and plenty of Miranda moments, here’s everything you need to know about The Devil Wears Prada musical…

What’s The Devil Wears Prada: A New Musical about?

It’s hard to believe anyone hasn’t watched the 2006 hit movie starring Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt. If you need a refresher, it follows an aspiring journalist Andy (Hathaway) who lands herself a job at the prestigious Runway magazine. She works for the truly powerful but terrifying editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly (Streep). Having once despised the fashion industry and its superficial world, she finds herself drawn further into the industry and has to sacrifice her personal life to meet the job’s demands.

Following a trial run in Chicago in 2022, the West End production is set to follow the same premise as the film and book by Kate Wetherhead, packed out with just as much humour, scandalous-style stories and self-discovery.

Who is behind the musical?

Just as the 00s film was packed out with stars, the team behind the production is just as impressive. Based on the book by Kate Wetherhead and David Frankel’s film, the musical will include an original score by legendary music icon Elton John and lyrics by Shaina Taub.

The Devil Wears Prada musical will be directed and choreographed by Tony Award-winning Jerry Mitchell. Having worked on shows such as Kinky Boots, Legally Blonde, Pretty Woman and Hairspray, you can guarantee this is going to be one you won’t want to miss.

An official line-up of cast members is yet to be announced. Though we’ll miss Emily Blunt and Anne Hathaway, we’re sure their characters will be performed with just as much jovial banter and humour as the film.
