It’s no secret that Aldi, the uber affordable supermarket brand, are a fan of the dupe, be it pomegranate hand soap that smells and looks distinctly like an old favourite or seriously good champagne that sells out every Christmas. But it’s the store’s beauty line that has really got the ears of beauty editors, skin-fluencers and general makeup junkies pricked up.

With cleansers from as little as £3.99, mascaras £4.99 and a list of active skincare ingredients known to work hard – oh, and a moisturiser that is said to give a very famous £400 pot a run for its money –  is it all just smoke and mirrors and good marketing? We think not. Having tried and tested plenty of the Aldi Beauty range over the years – most of which comes under the brand name Lacura – we’re pretty much sold.

Super Charged Skincare

Even if you’re new to the Aldi skincare range you may have heard Instagrammers and beauty editors waxing lyrical about the revolutionary moisturiser, Lacura’s Caviar Illumination Day Cream. Well, yep that’s actually from Aldi and it costs £6.99.

You would’t know it – it’s one of those moisturisers that feels and looks luxurious, with a thick, hydrating texture that’s ideal for quenching parched winter skin. But is the hype really warranted? Well, if you take a look at the ingredients it contains actual caviar (it’s not just a gimmicky name) which has been a hot ingredient in the world of luxury skincare for years – Victoria Beckham and Angelina Jolie are said to be fans of the stuff, and not just for eating.

Caviar contains plenty of omega-3 and 6 fatty acids, which are essentially in keeping skin healthy and plump. The moisturiser also contains antioxidants and SPF15 with UVA and UVB protection. For £6.99 you can’t really argue with that

Moving on, Aldi also has an excellent selection of serums and tonics. They’ve kept things simple, focusing on one hardworking ingredient that gets results, from the Glycolic Serum which gentle exfoliates dull skin and the Vitamin C Serum which will add a healthy glow to your morning routine, to the Salicylic Acid Tonic formulated to remove impurities leaving your skin feeling soft and smoother – it’s a great product to keep in your beauty arsenal if you suffer from breakouts.
