The headline act of BST Hyde Park concert has been announced and wild boys and girls are going to be thrilled. Well, not quite, because they’re not exactly rock ‘n’ roll but they were the vanguard of the biggest bands to come out of the ‘80s.

Duran Duran will be taking the famous Hyde Park stage on Sunday 12th July, bringing back their arena-sized anthems and girls-flinging-their-bras energy – hopefully less of the latter in 2020.

Either way, it’s the first gig the foursome has performed in the capital for five years and even if you’re not a diehard Durannie (actually what they call themselves), you’ll be surprised at how many absolute bangers they have – Girls on Film, Wild Boys, Rio, Ordinary World… we could go on.

They will be joined by Nile Rodgers & Chic too – is there a festival that guy doesn’t play? Other than him being the hardest working man in the music business, he also co-produced Duran Duran’s album Notorious, making the reunion all the more special.

The boys will be supported on the day by American pop star Gwen Stefani. Since the beginning of her career in band No Doubt, which spawned hits such as Don’t Speak and Just A Girl and a sound and style that defined an era, Gwen went on become a household name, actress, style icon and solo star in her own right. From her Harajuku phase to old school Hollywood glamour (she could give Madonna a run for her money in reinvention counts) expect some colourful and creative costume changes on the day.

The announcement completes the list of headline slots for the event, which also includes Pearl Jam, Taylor Swift, Little Mix, Post Malone and Kendrick Lamar.

BST Hyde Park takes place from Thursday 2nd – Sunday 12th July. Duran Duran will headline the last day of the festival.
